Objective: Although there is an established link between parenting stress, postnatal depression, and anxiety, no study has yet investigated this link in first-time parental couples. The specific aims of this study were 1) to investigate whether there were any differences between first-time fathers’ and mothers’ postnatal parenting stress, anxiety, and depression symptoms and to see their evolution between three and 6 months after their child’s birth; and 2) to explore how each parent’s parenting stress and anxiety levels and the anxiety levels and depressive symptoms of their partners contributed to parental postnatal depression. Zagadnienie samotnego ojcostwa stanowi jeden z bardziej interesujących, aczkolwiek nadal mało zgłębionych, obszarów badań nad rodziną i rodzicielstwem. Celem tego opracowania jest poznanie sposobu, w jaki dzieci postrzegają swoich samotnie opiekujących się nimi ojców. W tym celu wykorzystano wyniki arbitralnie wybranych badań ilościowych i jakościowych, przeprowadzonych w ostatnich czterech dekadach. Jednym z wniosków, sformułowanych w prezentowanym artykule, jest stanowisko, że aktualny stan badań nad percepcją dzieci w zakresie oceny ich samotnie wychowujących je ojców jest niezadowalający. Istnieje zatem konieczność prowadzenia dalszych badań w tym zakresie.

The household codes in which we find the advices given to fathers are the exegetes’ focus of attention since the time of Reformation. From this period on, on the basis of various criteria, one tried to define the genre of household codes and set them apart as a separate body in the New Testament literature. Following the particular topic which regards the exhortations addressed to pater familias, we analyzed two fragments contained respectively in the Letter to Colossians and in the Letter to Ephesians. The paper analyzes selected apophthegms that are part of two collections: alphabetical and systematic. These texts had initially circulated in oral transmission between 330–460 AD and were written down in the mid-fifth century. In this form they are available up until today. The purpose of the analysis at hand is to try to find traces of oral transmission in the apophthegms, which has been attempted by considering the rather rich literature on oral cultures and oral transmission. The studies by E. A. Havelock, J. Goody, and W. B. Ong have proven most useful here. Background: Transition to parenthood is an important life event and a developmental crisis increasing vulnerability to psychological disorders. Postpartum depression and parenting distress are the most common psychological disturbances involving both mothers and fathers. This paper aims to explore maternal and paternal experience of transition to parenthood and compared them, to investigate the relationship between parenting distress and risk of postpartum depression, in mothers and fathers.
